This week my big boy turns sixteen.  I am not sure how that happened.  He was such a little guy not that long ago, yet here we are…  This year his birthday cake will be a lot of fun for me as he has requested a Dr. Who cake. Woo-hoo!  I can’t wait!  Here’s hoping frosting and cake construction comforts me from the reality of him growing up so fast…  (Though I may still need a hug…)

This past weekend at Once a Month Mom, I posted the first in a monthly gluten free recipe makeover series:  Mocha Chip Muffins.  Be sure to go over and let me know what Once a Month Mom recipe you would like to be converted to gluten and diary free.

The host of this week’s Gluten Free Menu Swap is Heather of Celiac Family.  She has picked melon as the theme.  We eat melon raw, just right after cutting it up most of the time, but I also like it in savory salad combinations and in smoothies.  One of our favorite things to do with melon is to make Watermelon Slush.  In fact, I served it at my son’s first birthday party fifteen years ago.  🙂
