This week is the kid’s spring break.  It drives me crazy that my preschooler and my big kids’ breaks don’t match up AND that we don’t have more time the week before Easter, but I AM happy to have them around.  We have some tasty treats planned and my kids want to work on getting some things into their own cookbooks (a three ring binder they decorated and are filling with their favorite things that I make and that they make).  We are planning a couple of sleep overs also, so lots of kid food, waffles, pancakes and BACON!!!  My sister is also having a birthday  (25 years-old.  Whoo!)  so the kiddies and I are going to make her a banana chocolate chip monkey cake.  Shaped like a monkey, not monkey as an ingredient!  Fresh pineapple and grapes were on sale (2 for 1) last week, so I have tons of those around as I went back more than once.  I can’t pass up free food.  Now, if I could just get more organics that way…<sigh>

Printable grocery list for this week’s dinners.

Monday:  Homemade chicken nuggets (I usually just eyeball the ingredients, but I will measure today and post the recipe tonight.  That is for you, Carla!) and salad

Tuesday:  Broiled fish and a big salad with tons of fixings.  I will be having my daughter cut up the fixings and arrange the salad.

Wednesday:  Hamburgers (something different than the standard, but I am not sure what just yet.  edit:  I went with Teriyaki Burgers).  Oven fries and fruit salad.  I might have my son do this dinner with me.

Thursday:  My sister’s birthday dinner.  She has not yet decided (maybe meatloaf and mashed potatoes?  Comfort food!), but monkey cake is already on the menu!

Friday:  Potluck for our small group.  This usually has a tasty theme, but I am not sure what it is yet.

Yep, the monkey cake caught my eye, too.  YUM, though it may have something to do with the fact I am sugar free….hahaha!
